The very first rehearsal of MMI was an exciting day for all the chosen singers. The selection of the members had been done a week earlier over a period of five intensive hours at the Cabo Cervera Hotel in La Mata, Torre-vieja.
Approximately 100 vocalists from all musical genres came to display their talents to Nigel Hopkins, one at a time! It was a marathon event and took a lot of organizing. Several were disappointed - Nigel sets the bar pretty high when selecting the voices he wants to work with! The result was that 72 voices were selected to fill the four choral voices of Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.
And after four intensive months of voice coaching and "learning the dots" the chorus performed its first two concerts, one in Alfaz del Pi (near Beni-dorm), and the second at the Orihuela Costa Resort, south of Torrevieja. To the immense credit of all the singers, not a single sheet of music was used during the performance - every note and word had been committed to memory! (Hover over the slides to display the titles).
