The West End Workshop in Spain

Based in Torrevieja on the southern Costa Blanca, these annual Workshops are conducted by international singer, choral and orchestral conductor and voice coach, Nigel Hopkins.

He is assisted by his son, Matthew, himself a top-class singer, conductor and keyboard player. He is currently Director of Music at Nottingham Trent University, and responsible for the musical requirements of 27,000 students.

The idea of the West End Workshops is twofold. One aim is to enthuse and teach a chorus to as high a standard as possible in
the time allowed. This entails imparting as many rehearsal hints, vocal, breathing and learning techniques to the workshop
participants during the week. This prepares them as much as possible to perform the end-of-course concert to the best of their
abilities.

The other aim is to coach soloists, experienced or otherwise, in the art of solo performance. Both Nigel and Matthew are
experienced vocal tutors, with many successes in supplying the West End, Cruise Ship companies, and the general professional
musical world with solo performers. Their vast experience in both performing, conducting and teaching, makes them ideal tutors
for these West End workshops.

From the inception of the very first workshop, several professional solo performers on the Costas have taken advantage of
this tuition, and have improved their performances accordingly.
